Description:
This is a new rug in a Persian Tribal design copied from a rug
originally made in the 1850's. The pile is made of
100% fresh wool from the mountains of New Zealand which
is
hand knotted and also
hand spun, creating a beautiful
three-dimensional effect. The rug is thin and flexible with a
fine, tight weave - an indication of
high quality - and is made using the same methods used in the 1850's
that produced the stunning antique rugs you see displayed in museums
today. The 2 ends of the rug are professionally
overcast which protects the fringe from being pulled out as
well as insuring that rows will not be lost. The fringe is short and
light after the fashion of the antique rugs from which it drew
inspiration. The dye is mostly natural and is excellent quality.
We do
not use low quality components (old wool and cheap dye) which
you always see in inexpensive department store rugs or most of the new
rugs being sold eBay. The appearance of our
rugs will actually be enhanced the more they are used. This
cannot be said of those using cheap wool and dye. Our rugs have
zero damage, defects, or repairs.
This rug is available in several
designs and color combinations as well as two quality levels. The lower
quality level (slightly thicker with a slightly coarser weave and less
vibrant dyes) is approximately 20% cheaper.
The
rug you see below is the highest quality.
